2019: Governors’ wives, Al-Hassan, other northwest women root support for Buhari’s second term

– Wives of northwest governors have made a move to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term bid

– The women were led by the wife of the Katsina state governor Haiza Masari

– They said supporting President Buhari in 2019 was due to his purposeful leadership and all round development of Nigeria at large

Some northern women, governor’s wives have thrown their weight behind President Muhammadu Buhari.

The women under the aegis of North West Movement Buhari in 2019 have endorsed President, Muhammadu Buhari for a second term.

Vanguard reports that the women including wives of serving governors and their deputies said they were supporting the president because he has achieved so much since assuming office in 2015.

Thee wife of the Katsina state governor, Haiza Masari who led the women said aid their resolve to support the candidature of President Buhari in 2019 was due to his purposeful leadership and all round development of the country at large.

Masari said the APC-led administration had empowered women who had reaped various forms of dividends of democracy.

Also, the Katsina state deputy governor’s wife, Mariya Yakubu said the women in the region had every reason to identify with APC political office holders in view of their commitment to improving the women’s well-being.

Yakubu said: “Without mincing words, Buhari has been doing a lot for Nigerians and North West women will remain grateful to him and others complementing his efforts.”

Meanwhile, the minister of women affairs who was represented by the wife of former governor of Kogi state Aisha Abubakar Audu commended the women for the support for the president and the APC-led administration.

These top women also began the first phase of a women empowerment scheme during the event.

For the empowerment programme, thousands of women were given of N10 million by the movement.

The beneficiaries of the programme were advised to make judicious use of the capitals to better their lives and immediate families.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that a foundation established by the former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwaso empowered not less than a hundred women.

The women were empowered with N10,00 each through the Kwankwasiyya Foundation.

The financial assistant the special assistant to the former governor, Sanusi Surajo Kwankwaso, said move was in line with the national campaign to tackle poverty among women.

He also said the foundation was building on the successes recorded on women empowerment during the era Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in Kano.
