Met Gala 2018: Rihanna dresses up as the Pope

Rihanna — one of the co-chairs of this year’s gala — hit the steps of The MET on Monday night in a look that took the theme “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” quite literally.

The Fenty designer dressed up as the Pope in a bejeweled strapless mini dress with a built-in skirt, an oversized robe and miter.

She completed the look with a pair of sky-high Christian Louboutin stilettos in a gunmetal hue, while her body dripped with sparkling jewels from Cartier.

The songstress styled her long dark hair in an updo, putting all the attention on her ornate hat.

The 30-year-old singer, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, is co-hosting this year’s event with Donatella Versace, Amal Clooney and Anna Wintour.

The Met Gala is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.

It marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.

Each year’s event celebrates the theme of that year’s Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night, since guests are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit.
