President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, February 14, expressed shock and sadness over the death of over 20 students and three teachers from Bauchi who died on their way for an excursion in Kano on Tuesday, February 13.
President Buhari sent his condolence to the government of Bauchi state over the death of the students and teachers through Garba Shehu, one of his spokespersons.
He prayed to Allah to accept the souls of the deceased and forgive their sins just as he also mourned a former chairman of the Bank of the North, Muhammad Lugga, who died after a prolonged illness.
In the message of condolence, President Buhari said he was deeply touched by the passing of the prominent banker and politician.
Buhari recalled how Lugga used his extensive experience to revive the defunct Bank of the North which was at the verge of collapse on account of poor management.
The president extended his condolences to the government of Zamfara state and family of the late Lugga and prayed to Allah to forgive his gentle soul.

Also, the president expressed sent his sympathies to the Baba-Ahmed family, the government and people of Kaduna state over the death of Mahmoon, a reputable journalist he said was known for courage, statesmanship and professionalism.
NAIJ.com earlier reported how about 28 people made up of teachers and students of the Command Junior Secondary school, Misau, Bauchi state, were on Tuesday, February 13, crushed to death by a trailer in a fatal road accident in Gaya local government area of Kano state.
Those involved, according to reports, included three teachers and 25 students and that they were in a commercial Toyota vehicle travelling to Gidan Dan Hausa in Kano state for an excursion to one of the FM stations when they had a head-on collision with the trailer.
