Okezie Ikpeazu has survived a legal action by a senior lawyer, Friday Nwosu, seeking to disqualify him as governor of Abia state.
Daily Trust in a report on Friday, April 13, stated that the Supreme Court in a verdict dismissed the suit by Nwosu and upheld the ruling of the Court of Appeal, which dismissed the appeal challenging Ikpeazu’s qualification.
The lawyer was challenging Ikpeazu’s election on the grounds that the governor allegedly made false information in his form to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Meanwhile, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has reportedly lost one of his aides, Ibanga Etang, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Etang was reported to have resigned as special assistant to the governor on project on Monday, April 9 and formally registered with the APC at his Etebi Ward 7 along with over 300 followers.

The Nation reports that in his resignation letter to the governor, he said he was leaving because he deemed it necessary to depart now in line with the dictates of his conscience and highest level of sincerity.
The governor’s former aide told his supporters at a post-defection meeting on Thursday, April 12 that with their entry into APC, the party stood a 70 per cent chance of winning Esit Eket.
