– The Nigerian Army has rewarded some outstanding personnel in Borno state
– The troops are mostly of Operation Lafiya Dole within the 7 Division
– Majority of them are soldiers that participated in the Operation Deep Punch II
Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole within 7 Division Area of Responsibility have benefited from the benevolence of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai.
The troops have been rewarded with special promotion for for actively participating in Operation Deep Punch II, and they were decorated with their new ranks recently.
The decoration of the troops was conducted by their commanders in Bama, Chibok, Damboa, Dikwa, Gwoza, Konduga and Maiduguri respectively.
The special guest of honour at the event was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf.
In his remarks during the decoration of troops at the Headquarters 7 Division, Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Major General Yusufu attributed the COAS gesture to recognition of troops valour and commitment to duty during the Operation Deep Punch II, which led to the successful demolition of the stronghold of Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa Forest.
He thanked the COAS for his benevolence which he noted would spur the troops more in subsequent operations.
He also paid glowing tribute to soldiers who paid the supreme sacrifice during the pperation and charged those promoted to reciprocate the gesture of the COAS by rededicating themselves to the fight against terrorism in the north east.
It would be recalled that the COAS had earlier approved the release of special promotion for 3729 troops of Operation Lafiya Dole who participated in Operation Deep Punch II in Sambisa Forest in recognition of their heroic feat in routing Boko Haram terrorists from their hideouts.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force has graduated another set of 146 Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) from the leadership and management course at the Military Training Centre (MTC) in Kaduna.
The course, which commenced in February 2018, was designed to equip selected personnel with up-to-date knowledge in human and material management as well as adequate leadership skills to function optimally for efficient service.
NAIJ.com gathered that participants at the course were exposed to series of leadership and management models, service writing, office administration as well as effective communication skills.
