The Benin Electricity Distribution Company has awarded automatic employment to the students of the Elizade University, Ilara Mokin, Ondo State, who graduated with first class and second class (upper division) in the Department of Accounting.

The Registrar of the institution and Chairman of the convocation anniversary committee of the university , Mr. Omololu Adegbenro, stated this at the second convocation of the institution.

He said the gesture was a fulfilment of  the promise of the electricity distribution company, adding that the university was ready to partner many corporate bodies in the country.

The management of the institution had earlier announced another automatic employment for the 16 students that made first class among the 105 students that graduated from the institution.

The Chancellor of the university, Mr. Gbenga Oyebode, made the announcement in his address at the ceremony.

According to him, while the university’s first class graduates will be working in the institution, they will also be given the opportunity to continue their academic careers.

He said, “Every first class graduate will be given an automatic employment in this institution and they will be allowed to go for their masters and doctoral degrees.”

Similarly, at the ceremony, the Visitor to the university, Chief Michael Ade.Ojo, gave N5m to one of the graduates of the university, Miss Elizabeth Animashaun, for presenting the best business proposal among the 30 applicants for the Go Higher Business Empowerment Award, initiated by the Visitor.

Ade.Ojo said, “ The student (Animashaun) will be given N5m to begin the project. You can see that Animashaun is a clear demonstration of the role of university in training the mind. Here is a graduate of Mass Communication, who applied her knowledge to fill in the gap in the society.

“Her company, called Gas-Urgently, will be the first mobile cooking gas filling station in the country.”
