Ambode Campaign Organisation condemns APC governorship primary election in Lagos

– A member of the Ambode Campaign Organisation, Tunde Bank-Anthony, has condemned the the APC governorship primary election in Lagos state

– Bank-Anthony said there was a conspiracy in the election against state governor Ambode

– He maintained that the primary was marred by violence and the delegates were harassed

A member of the Ambode Campaign Organisation, Tunde Bank-Anthony, on Wednesday, October 3, spoke about the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Lagos state.

Bank-Anthony in an interview on Channels TV programme, Sunrise Daily, claimed that there was a conspiracy at the primary against the incumbent governor, Akinwumi Ambode.

.He said the election that on Tuesday, October 2, took place in the state was marred by violence as delegates were harassed.

According to him, “This is not a conspiracy against Ambode, it is a conspiracy against Lagosians. The local council chairman was going around harassing people. There are many videos trending online where people were beaten, told to vote for Sanwo-Olu.”

He maintained that the importance of giving freedom to electorates to exercise their rights to vote without being harassed.

According to him, “Ambode’s administration will end but his works will not be forgotten by Lagos residents. Ambode will come and go, eight years or four years. He is leaving his mark already, but let people exercise their rights.

“There was no election, not even accreditation. I was in Baruwa ward yesterday. The divisional police officer for Itire was with me throughout.”

Reacting to the deputy governor of the state, Adebule Oluranti, backing Sanwo-Olu as the party’s governorship candidate, Bank-Anthony said she was only playing safe.

Meanwhile, had reported that APC in Lagos state declared Jide Sanwo-Olu as winner of the primary election and governorship candidate of the party for 2019.

Tunde Balogun who is the chairman of the party in Lagos announced the result on Tuesday, October 2, at the party secretariat.

According to him, Sanwo-Olu polled 970,851 votes to defeat Governor Akinwunmi Ambode who reportedly had 72,901 votes.
