– Oluwawole was impeached by 14-member of the House on Thursday, October 11

– He, however, said he remains the authentic speaker of the state assembly

Kola Oluwawole, who was impeached as the speaker of the Ekiti state House of sssembly on Thursday, October 11, has said that he remains the authentic speaker and of the assembly.

Channel TV reports that Oluwawole described his removal as an illegality which cannot stand.

NAIJ.com gathered that he said 18 members were supposed to carry out a speaker’s impeachment.

He, therefore, insisted that the 14-member action is not valid under the law.

Oluwawole was immediately replaced by Ebenezer Alagbada.

The 14 lawmakers also removed the deputy speaker and principal officers of the House and also announced the suspension of some members.

They cited abuse of office and mismanagement of the resources of the House among other reasons for their actions.

The development is coming few days to the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that the speaker of the Ekiti state House of Assembly, Kola Oluwawole, was reportedly impeached.

It was reported that he was impeached in the early morning of Thursday, October 11, in a move allegedly spearheaded by the three All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in connivance with some aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House.

Meanwhile, the outgoing governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has asked workers in the state to collect their outstanding four months’ salaries from the incoming governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

Fayose gave the directive on Wednesday, October 10, while inaugurating a new school he built in Afao-Ekiti. The the governor said that the federal government had withheld the funds he could have used to offset the backlog of salaries, ahead of Fayemi’s resumption.
