Just in: Nigeria’s minister of environment emerges new emir of Nasarawa

Nigeria’s minister of state for environment, Usman Jibrin, on Thursday, December 6, emerged as the 13th emir of Nasarawa town.

Jibrin took over the ministry after the resignation of Amina Mohammed, who is currently serving at the United Nations.

Premium Times reports that the minister emerged as emir in a keen contest as announced by the state commissioner for local governments and chieftaincy affairs, Illiya Osegba, at the Government House, Lafia.

Osegba reportedly said Governor Tanko Al-makura approved the selection of Jibrin as the new emir.

The commnissioner further said the approved the selection of Lawrence Ayih as the new Abaga Toni of Toni Kingdom in Nasarawa state.
