Lagos APC primary: You put up a good fight – Sanwo-Olu thanks Ambode after emerging winner

– He said though he lost the poll to him, Ambode put up a good fight

– He also thanked the people of Lagos state for their loyalty and efforts

A governorship aspirants in the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has thanked his counterpart, Governor Akinwumi Ambode for ‘putting a good fight’ during the primary election process held on Tuesday, October 2, across the wards in the state.

Channels TV reports that Sanwo-Olu, a former commissioner in Lagos state, lent the hand of comradeship to Governor Ambode in a video broadcast, having allegedly been declared the winner of the exercise by Asiwaju Hammed Bola Tinubu.

He said: “I think it is important that I also thank the executive governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode for a good fight. I want to thank him for giving us the opportunity, to let this direct primary come to stay and we were able to have it.

“I want to thank him. I want to wish him the very best in the remainder of his tenure as the executive governor of Lagos state.”

NAIJ.com gathers that Sanwo-Olu also thanked the people of Lagos state, especially his political supporters, saying they worked tirelessly to bring the victory to him.

He added: “You have all worked tirelessly for the level we are now. I am indeed grateful and appreciate all your efforts.

“Lagosians, with what you have done for me, I cannot take you for granted. I will cherish it for the rest of my life.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode had reportedly said he was poised to win the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

Ambode Campaign Organisation (ACO), in a statement, also denied report that the governor had withdrawn from the primary election.

It insisted that no election took place in the state, saying there were guidelines and procedures which the National Working Committee (NWC) had insisted must be followed in conducting a credible poll.
