NRC chairman, Usman Abubakar dies at age 68

It was a sad day for the people of Sandamu local government of Katsina state as one of their illustrious sons, Usman Abubakar, gave up the ghost.

According to Daily Trust, Abubakar, who was the chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) passed away on Thursday, October 11, at the age of 68 at a hospital in Abuja. His remains will be buried on Friday, October 12, in Daura according to Islamic rites.

NAIJ.com gathers that the late Abubakar was appointed the chairman of NRC on September 27, 2017, by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The deceased had also served as commissioner of works in Katsina state in 1987. He was also the chairman of Jebba Paper Mills, Daura Tannery, and Interlinked Technologies, a private company.

Late Abubakar is survived by a wife Hajiya Rabi Sule Maiyawo, and three children: Lawal Abubakar, Engr Buhari Abubakar and Engr Mustapha Abubakar.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Nigeria’s former ambassador to Greece and Australia, Professor Oludare Agbi, is dead. He was 73 years old.

Agbi, who was also the Asiwaju of Akure Kingdom, died in the early hours of Wednesday, October 10, following a battle with an undisclosed illness.

The death of the chairman, Elders Council of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state was confirmed by a family source who refused to give details.
