A Yoruba socio-political group, Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has congratulated the former vice president of the country, Atiku Abubakar, over his victory in the just concluded presidential primary election of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Port Harcourt.
The Guardian reports that the statement containing the congratulatory message was made by the national chairman of the group, Fredrick Faseun.
Faseun also said PDP made the right decision by fielding the best and popular candidate as its flag-bearer for the 2019 presidential election.
He thanked PDP, saying the party has proved its seriousness by electing a candidate that is capable of making the 2019 poll tough and engaging.
Meanwhile, Atiku Care Foundation (ACF), a charity group has thanked the delegates of PDP for electing its owner, Atiku Abubakar.
The national chairman of the group, Aliyu Bin Abbas, in a statement, expressed appreciation to the delegates for electing ‘a candidate who has the capacity, intensity and nation wide appeal.
He said: “We are exceptionally grateful to the PDP delegates who heeded our rigorous and fervent appeal to ensure that our party elects a candidate who has the capacity, intensity and nationwide appeal that can withstand Buhari in the 2019 elections.
“We had enjoined delegates to look beyond personal and regional sentiments while making this choice.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported Atiku Abubakar, had said he would shock everyone by fighting corruption like never before if he ever got the chance to become president of Nigeria.
Atiku made the statement on Monday, September 11, during a facility tour of the new ultra-modern Yaliam Press Limited in Jabi area of Abuja.
The former vice-president also challenged those accusing him of being corrupt to provide evidence to back their allegations.
