The Osun House of Assembly workers have lauded the weekly environmental sanitation being carried out at the House, urging other ministries and departments to emulate the idea for its health benefits.
NAN reports that a cross section of the workers, who spoke with newsmen after the completion of the weekly sanitation on Thursday, October 11, said the exercise had contributed to a healthier and more serene environment.
NAIJ.com gathers that Tunde Bello, the director of Demand and Supply, Osun House of Assembly, said the sanitation had provided cleaner and healthier environment for workers.
Bello advised the staff not to relent in the weekly sanitation, adding that they should replicate such in their individual homes for a better society.
Timothy Adedire, another worker at the Assembly, said the weekly sanitation was encouraging and could reduce the risk of diseases and unnecessary wastage of money on treatment.
Another worker, Dorcas Oladire, said living and working in a clean environment guaranteed a healthier life, adding that it should be sustained since the workers had realised its importance and embraced it.
The clerk of the Assembly, Simeon Amusan, who instituted the sanitation on September 6, said he was happy with the turnout of staff for the sanitation, stressing that its health benefits were immeasurable.
He thanked the leadership of the Assembly for approving the exercise and equally lauded the staff for their active participation in the cleaning exercise.
The clerk made it compulsory for staff to carry out environmental sanitation of the Assembly’s complex every Thursday, except on public holidays.
